Slayers

The series starts with Lina Inverse adventuring alone, wandering the world and punishing bandits for their evil deeds and incidentally reclaiming their stolen hoards. Her companions are Gourry, Zelgadis and Amelia. As such it's a real shame that Lina finds herself with potent enemies, but no idea of what they want or even who the true enemy is. But Lina isn't unfamiliar with having enemies, and has no intention of losing even if she doesn't know what the game is. Lina discovers an even more powerful force that has been watching from the shadows has taken an active and hostile interest in her. Having circulated a bounty on her head, plus Gourry's, she has little choice but to find the person in question and convince them of the error of their ways. Although had she know the true nature and origin of the powerful opponent she ends up facing she might well have sought another path.

Slayers is simply awesome. I've never laughed so much at an anime series like this one. The characters are either really wacky or stupid (in a funny way) and some of them have a strange obsession of eating food all the time. There's a lot of magic used in this anime and the special effects are top-notch. If only the artwork was of higher quality, Slayers would definitely be my favorite anime series.
